Northwest Hills Basement Remodel

Location: Northwest Hills, Portland, OR

The basement of this home was dark and uninviting and the guest room had a ridiculous closet in it that made the room hard to work with.  We remodeled the space to provide a music room/office/guest space, a bar, a nice big guest room, and a family-friendly space for hanging out, eating, and watching TV. This client let me have free-reign.  We incorporated some cool art that they already had but the rest of the details were left to me to come up with.  I wanted to connect the space with the outside and create a lot more functionality in a beautiful way.  Recently these clients lived in this area only as we remodeled the upstairs and they were perfectly comfortable living in their basement.  They kept commenting on how glad they were to have it and that we did all we did to make it a beautiful place to live and hang out.

The highlight for me was the guest room.  I loved that they were open to taking a European approach to do built-in wardrobes flanking the bed and doing a custom bed and headboard.  By doing this we created a light-filled super functional guest room that is also beautiful!
