Dunthorpe Whole House Remodel

The Kitchen

We brought warmth and texture to a newer, modern construction for this family. They didn’t want anything cookie cutter or anything fussy—a space harmonious with the modern lines of the architecture, emulating the feel and functionality they desired. The kitchen is always the heart of the home, but in this case, even more so. They are avid cooks who spend most of their time in the kitchen—even working in the space at times. To get more light into the space, we took out a beam that was blocking the existing skylights. We added counter space, a small desk area and remodeled the hidden pantry with better storage and access. Working only with the existing footprint, we transformed this space to be incredibly functional and uniquely theirs.

Before we went to work on Monica and David's home, we showed our concepts as raytrace drawings and 3D views. Here's what we showed them:

We had not worked with an interior designer before, so were a little apprehensive of the process wondering if the final result would look and feel like “us”. We didn’t want a kitchen that looked like everyone else’s. Arlene was fun and easy to work with, and the result was a really beautiful kitchen, that is both functional and unique. It is truly a joy to live and work in. We could not recommend Arlene and her team more highly.
